Is anyone using fluid simulation?

I wonder if anyone will do a water jug with fluid simulation? That'd be quite a nifty trick. :)

I'll see about that once my semester is done...ill have quite a short time to do it though -.-; i finish on the 20th...

Ah.. maybe i could do one with realflow, but as i understand the animation export in cindigo dosnt work yet.

yep, its broken. but zou could still export a single frame. its not an animation competition, or is it?

In the same way, would motion blur work with a water sim ? I tend to believe not, since water sims do change:

1: the number and
2: positions of the surface vertices,

instead of transforming one given mesh, breaking all geometry matching between frames... but the question still applies for me, thanks.

I should have an entry for the competition, but using a sim is not scheduled for it.

I may try a fluid sim. I have two Q6600 machines now so I can let one grind away for a few days.

A fluid sim should not generate any motion blur unless it's transformation changes. Currently motion blur is generated only for physical movement of the mesh.

Yeah - I was just looking at the wine glass that was done in blender and thought it might be a nice trick.

Motion blur doesn't work on deforming meshes yet. When we get around to a smart way to do that we'll probably get better animation support at the same time - maybe some kind of 4d acceleration structure?

(It's fun imagining data structures when i'm not the one implementing them) ;)

i was talking to nick about exactly this a while back, surely he would have mentioned it ;)

Heh - yup I think that's where the idea came from :D

now if only you knew someone who's worked through the details and could implement it for you... ;)

ahahaha ok i'll stop :P

Motion blur for deforming meshes would rock !
(just thought I should mention it :) )

Hahahaha !!! So true...
