Re: August Competition - Modernism
hello,
I`ve got question about competition. Can I use my own older models in competition or must be all new ? I`d like make something from Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Ive got some part of models so is good to save time for render.
ieatfish- good to see nice render in competition. Congratulation !

Nickname: spills
Version of Indigo used: Indigo 2.4.10 x64 Windows
Rendering time / CPUs: forever and ever
List of tools used (and external artwork, with links) : hammers and nails
Placeholder post. If I get a spare night, I'll try to whip something up, though it doesn't seem likely, what with work being insane right now and all.

Question : Im working on my render and already have several images rendered, but is not finished yet... Can I post images of the progress? or it has to be the final?
Re: August Competition - Modernism
Why not start a own WIP thread in the related subforum, by this you can get feedback on your work in a own threadkikeonline wrote:Question : Im working on my render and already have several images rendered, but is not finished yet... Can I post images of the progress? or it has to be the final?

Re: August Competition - Modernism
It is ok to re-use models but it would be against the rules to reuse a complete scene (actually the rules are not very specific about that. I will discuss making the rules more specific for the next competition with Soup)
Re: August Competition - Modernism
Yes what Fused said sounds good, you can reuse models, as long as its not a complete scene. And it has to fit within the theme, too, of course
Re: August Competition - Modernism
Well, it doesn't HAVE to fit with the theme, but for a shot at besting my AMAZING render it probably should.Soup wrote:Yes what Fused said sounds good, you can reuse models, as long as its not a complete scene. And it has to fit within the theme, too, of course

Soup, fused- Thanks for answer, so better is start new topic in W.I.P section to show progress in scene.

Depends, if your .png is really big (like over 1Mb or so) beter go with jpgsketchy render wrote:Should I upload my image as PNG or as JPEG?

Re: August Competition - Modernism
I've found that JPEG @ 100% quality is usually a lot smaller than PNG's.. and there is no noticeable difference in quality. Even a JPEG @ 70 or 80% quality still looks damn good, but can be as little as 30 or 20% the size of an equivalent PNG.
The one exception is black and white images or images with very few colors/tones. The way PNG files are saved allow them to handle images with few colors a lot better than JPEGs, so they end up being about half the size of an equivalent JPEG.
