Lightwave exporter

Post by pienri » Tue Nov 07, 2006 10:54 pm

Ciao,
I'm testing indigo and I'm very happy about this render.
Is previewed in future the realization of an exporter from lightwave?

Thanx

Hey guys, I guess it's easier to find someone who can script LScript
and convince him to write an exporter. Maybe in some Lightwave
forum or cgtalk? As you can see, until now there are not a lot lightwavers
on board ... :?

take care

here we are! now that I know indigo renderer, I have to hunt a coder for writing the exporter.. lightwave really needs alternative render engines, and indigo can be a great answer.

hi pienri, I know you are in LWITA forum.. glad to meet you here too. yes, I've posted even in a thread on the newtek forum in the features request (it was already there), but I think it's the wrong place and I'm thinking about posting in the developer subforum.

I've taken a look at the documentation of the indigo scene file format, and I think it can be done. the only problem is with geometry: does indigo support only .3ds objects? I think this is a big limitation, mainly because that file format has 65k points limit.. but, ok, I'm not the right person to speak about those things.

see you soon (on LWITA too).

Now (not only for lightwaver) a better way to play with Indigo is Indigoexplorer by Daros (Thanx a lot Daros!!) that support Lwo format!!!
You find it in general stuff forum http://www.indigorenderer.com/joomla/fo ... .php?t=442

Ciao

Hi,

I'm not a Lightwave user but I'm posting to expose my opinion about IndigoExplorer:

I think this was an attempt to convince the develloper of Indigo to sell licenses so they (Daros and Cie) could sell farm rendering with Indigo as a service. That was interested, not just a "free" contribution but a demonstration of the commercial potential of Indigo. At least this is how I understood it, then I deleted my post on this thread (I could because it was the last one). So you may use IndigoExplorer "as is" if it fits your needs, but in my opinion it's better not to advertise for it.

I'm saying that without any animosity, just wanted to share my opinion and put a warning, I may be wrong or perceived as offensive but I'm not. This is also not an invitation to debate since everything is clear by now.

Thank you for reading, and sorry for the local perturbation ;)

at the end, I've decided to open another thread in another subforum at the newtek forum:
http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60586

support me! more people asking for it, more the possibility someone does it! 8)
