[REQ] MtI Requests !

Please note that the poll choices do not refer directly to the classification below, they are stand alone categories. You can repick your choice at will.
Use this thread for your requests or make your own, tag it if you remember to.
I will classify requests and TODOs together I think, in an approximative order of priority/deliverance. This order should be "dynamic", ie users requests and coding developments will impact it.
Non exhaustive classification begins:
Features:
- Indigo (pigm) to Maya materials conversion
Motion Blur
Indigo scene (IGS) import in Maya (provided that only external obj files are used atm)
Workflow:
- check for the compositing flag of layeredShader
Make all cameras renderable
Modularize mediums (mediumNode)
split indigoShader into individual material nodes
Core:
- Scene preserving acquisition of transforms data
database Terminal
Add an "Indigo Renderer" section in HyperShade/createNodeWindow
I'm putting a poll, just to add another weighting factor. You have two options and can change your mind.

Individual nodes for each material and medium.
I am not sure if everyone would like this..
and it might be hard to do if you have to do previews of them in the viewport..
Though, dedicated indigo materials with true indigo settings would be nice :]
..Maybe make a Node set like MentalRay has?
Just thoughts! 8D

I'll look into that set thing at some point
It is possible to split the indigoShader into multiple materials, but I'll wait to have a dedicated node section like you suggested, isn't that better ? I don't think that adding this extra section will be easy (not just an UI thing) and it's not prioritary atm.
The spectrumNode allows all materials to pass by the same pipeline. Instead of generalizing non RGB spectrums only for the indigoShader, it is available to all under that (common) form. Perhaps that'll change at some point, after having the monolithic shader splitted/new Indigo section available probably. For now it is making thing easier for me, allows for spectrums-specific presets etc I have to defend that choice for modularity
I hope that the viewport feedback will be adressed before what I mentioned, probably after IGM conversion is available.
The idea of a mediumNode is acceptable, I think I'm liking it a lot, feasability must be evaluated tho.

Thanks to the person(s) who voted... heh, Arne ?
Comments please, I can take that

Sorry X]
- More renderable cameras
- More and better material editing (still having trouble making good specular mats)
Either they're black, or not transparent at all, just a solid color..
- Possibility to change the default mtiSettings
- Possibility to set what scale you are working in
As I often don't care what actual size my models are this would be nice ^^
let's say I model a door that's, in Maya, 4cm wide..
then I could just say that my scene needs to be multiplied by, say, 23 and that door will then be 92cm wide in Indigo
- Fix the slow 6 time refresh when I select an indigoShader with the Palette open
that's a few things 8D

Thanks Arne, and please do not apologize. I'm not in position to ask but I sure would use points of view, mine might be tadly distorted (got the focus plane touching my nose woopsy).
This topic to help bridging the gaps if you want.

- Fix the slow 6 time refresh when I select an indigoShader with the Palette open
Right, that's one of the small details that bugs a lot, the condition for a refresh is an attribute change but that's also triggered when the AE template is built for these attributes (combo boxes), really annoying.
I would simply recommend to freeze the palette and refresh it when needed (north UI gesture).
Workarounds are:
- to freeze the Palette when using the AE
or
- to work with the Palette but not the AE (make a Maya Renderer compliant scene with the AE, then close the AE and set Indigo relative settings using the Palette, a final touch)
Also I can simply remove automatic refreshes for these combo boxes before a definitive fix, you may then have to trig refresh yourself after having changed them.

Regarding specular materials, I assume you refer to setting absorbtion values... Do you believe that an absorbtion gain (multiplier) would help best ?
Use scientific notation for small values (9.654654
e-8), they will be preserved even though the AE will show a rounded value (0.000), use real world data and scale when possible. You really shouldn't tamper with scale like that anyway d:

I will add a "set scale" option (: What are your suggestions regarding default settings ? You can edit
mti_UserPrefs.mel to set the factory defaults prior to calling any preset.

Multiplier for the absorption, yeah ^^
..and for the scene size :]
I'm just excited that you're working on mti 8DD
Fun fact: Had a college from southern Paris at work all week, he was cool 8D
