I have a strange request for anyone out there with some spare time: Could you please take this material, and test it with you object in: 1) Standard material editor (Indigo-Standalone-just open the file); 2) Your C4D exported scene.
Post your results please.
Essentially, I've been trying to create a soap bubble material, and have been doing this scene the whole day, trying to figure out why this material works with Indigo's standard scene, but not in any other scenario. The problem is that in any other scene, render goes berserk, with some strange colorful lines going across my sphere. Tried going through light intensities, model integrities(closed mesh, layered, etc.), scene scales - nothing. Couple of notes though: 1) while using PT rendering mode, the lines do not appear. 2) Changing the resolution, and moving the camera around(it's a must), rids us of those horrible lines.
So, right now, what I need, is a smart head to help me out with this. Why is this happening? I'm confused.

Re: Material testing - Coating
Thanks pixie! Did you get those lines as well?
As for the soap - We are getting there!
You just need to play with IOR values, mixing them right, etc. I'm more worried about those stripes, not knowing why they show up.
Looking at some reference photos, it seems like it is way more easier to just use this kind of setup:
Coating
Blend
Blend + Null
Phong + DiffuseTransmitter

no I haven't, I set a small sphere, give it high count on poly remove the 'render perfect' option and then I let it render

I can see you guys used PT mode. Please try it out with BiDir. Here's a different one, with much more refractions, but it looks wrong.

I think there shouldn't really be any refraction in a soap bubble, it's so thin. Try arch glass as substrate?

Re: Material testing - Coating
Correct, that's why coating method with blended null works the best. But, to actually see that interference the substrate needs to have some refraction, otherwise, it's too weak. Archglass will not work - specular for that matter.
