When I set the null emission material to a 2nd layer it gives me this error. The first layer is used as background material.

Great update!
The big But:
there has to happen something with animation export.
C4d-Changed textures (by layer- or filter-shader) are exported for every frame. That means that of you export 100 frames, baked textures are exported 100 times instead of being referenced.
Not when rendering in c4d, but in the standalone, for sure.

Just tested it again in the hope it was working, but the layer or filter shaders are still bugged. When you apply them it rescales the image to 1:1 ratio and I think to 512x512 or something low res in that direction. You can see that cklearly when you apply a layer shader to an HDR environment.

I suggest the problem with baking textures for every frame is due to new animated texture support...
This behavior should only be showing up if you alter a loaded picture sequence with enabeled animated texture with a shader.

You should be able to control the target baking resolution for every material in the "Extra Options" area under "Blend"...

... That for I set the Resolution already quite low.

Another thing:
There exists a function for altering color on instances, right? Or did I remember that wrong?
It would be so cool having that function as a shader in Cindigo...

If your master has no material applied, you can have some on your instances and they work!
Polygon selections for multiple textures work that way too...
