Indigo for Cinema 4D 3.2.10
for Indigo Renderer 3.2.10 and Indigo RT 3.2.10

We finally changed the name from 'Cindigo' to 'Indigo for Cinema 4D'.

There now also is an integrated version of Indigo RT.

Windows users: the installer is now a combined Installer, that includes all versions. You will need to uninstall all previously installed versions of Cindigo (due to the name-change).

Please keep in mind that this is a beta release and that there are a good few issues left to fix (save often).

R12 builds work with R13.

Windows:

Indigo Renderer:
indigo-for-cinema-4d-3.2.10-installer.exe - Includes installers for R10 - R13

Indigo RT:
indigo-rt-for-cinema-4d-3.2.10-installer.exe - Includes installers for R10 - R13

Mac:

Indigo Renderer

indigo-for-c4d-3.2.10-R11-mac.zip
indigo-for-c4d-3.2.10-R115-mac.zip
indigo-for-c4d-3.2.10-R12-mac.zip

Indigo RT

Integrated for RT working -- thanks and well done!

1. I added an Infinite Light to a small scene and tried to render. I got an error message that at least one light had to be added to the scene. When I changed the light type to Omni or Spot, Indigo rendered with no error message. Are Infinite Lights taboo with Indigo (i.e., did I miss that in the docs)?

2. A previously-added glass texture in the scene rendered perfectly, but a freshly-added metal texture did not. It was kind of a complex material, and Indigo didn't respond to any changes I made in color, brightness, specularity or spec color. I even disabled the bump map, but Indigo still didn't respond to any of the other property changes I made. It *did* respond to the change in bump map. I'm still getting used to both C4D and Indigo, so is this another possible RTFM issue?

Thanks again,
Jeff

Not all light source types are supported by Indigo. Some are just emulated (point lights are converted into small spheres, for example).

Indigo does not have an infinite light source. If you had the intention to use it as a sun of sorts, you need to drag it into the "Sun direction" field in the 'Environment' tab of the 'Indigo Renderer' render settings (like it's done in this tutorial: http://www.indigorenderer.com/documenta ... d/tutorial ).

Which material was that?

In the Material Manager, go to Create | Load Material Preset | Prime (or whatever) | Materials | Basic | Metal002.

Hi Jeff,

the conversion of C4D materials is very rough. You'd probably want to make an Indigo Material (Material Manager
> Create > Indigo Material) and use that instead.

To learn more about Indigo's material system, I would recommend watching the material editing video tutorials lycium made recently. The tutorials are showing the Indigo UI, but the concepts are mostly the same. You can find them here:

Thanks, Yves.

It's good to know that there's not really a problem with Indigo, and instead I just need to use a more targeted workflow when using Indigo as my renderer.

You've pointed me to some good videos to watch, and I must say that is the nicest, most polite form of RTFM that I've ever encountered. ;) :) :D

Hey, come on, I'm not that bad. Besides, I've never even been to NZ.

No, not yet. Looking at it briefly now. Maybe it's an easy fix :)

I noticed in the Indigo Renderer settings (in the C4D Render Settings window) that selecting GPU Acceleration doesn't change the Render Mode to Path Tracing or disable the control after the change is made.

I assume the same limitations on GPU Acceleration exist inside of C4D that exist in the stand-alone IR?

GPU acceleration checkbox in Cindigo sets pure PT for rendering with GPU, its only a "GUI issue" in not changing the mode in GUI as you mentioned. Indigo RT and the Full renderer both only support PT on GPU...
