Indigo 2.2.1
Re: Indigo 2.2.1
Concerning the two images posted by Godzilla: one can see the improvements in the 2.2.1 images, notably reflections.
In the 2.0.12 image there are various spots were you can find isolated, strong pixels. If you compare those spots with the 2.2.1 render, you can see that there have been more sampling around (more softened samples): the convergence was clearly faster there, and more than twice it seems.

Re: Indigo 2.2.1
I'm rendering an animation atm and noise is not "dancing" around anymore. The noise pattern stays same between different frames. Great improvement !
Re: Indigo 2.2.1
This "dancing arround" is afaik depending to MLT and the "patchy convergence" of the image... in PTh you have more classy "overall noise"
btw: connection to master seems still like playing roulette here :(

Re: Indigo 2.2.1
I do all my animations with PT (I only use MLT with interior scenes and scenes with a lot of caustics present.) The noise pattern is different now than it was before.

Re: Indigo 2.2.1
Man, I want to Indigo again so bad. Two problems though:
1) Maya plugin development seems to be dormant
2) WAY too expensive - Not that Ono doesn't deserve every penny, It's just that I cannot afford it.

Hopefully not for much longer, CTZn and myself are literally on the verge of agreeing formally to work with Glare.Phr0stByte wrote:1) Maya plugin development seems to be dormant.
I'm just trying to work out some of the finer details of the economics at my end of things, as it looks like I'll have to invest financially to be able to do the work I need to do.

Re: Indigo 2.2.1
That sounds real good - I hope to scrape up enough freelance jobs to be able to afford Indigo, but with the current economic situation, it will probably take longer than I would wish.dougal2 wrote:Hopefully not for much longer, CTZn and myself are literally on the verge of agreeing formally to work with Glare.Phr0stByte wrote:1) Maya plugin development seems to be dormant.

Re: Indigo 2.2.1
Yeah, I disabled that. Do you use it, and what for?ZomB wrote:Yes I did... hmmm... I'll keep trying
Another Problem I found:
EXR files aren't saved anymore (tonemapped & untonemapped) if you set them to be saved on Exporter
Re: Indigo 2.2.1
Simply to have 32bit output if rendering with halt situations (animations for example)OnoSendai wrote:Yeah, I disabled that. Do you use it, and what for?ZomB wrote:Yes I did... hmmm... I'll keep trying

Used this for my Toon Car animation to denoise in 16bit :)
More critical is atm the network connectivity in this version anyway.... :(
Re: Indigo 2.2.1
The OpenEXR output in Indigo is 16 bit per component. I'll add it back in to the next version.ZomB wrote:Simply to have 32bit output if rendering with halt situations (animations for example)OnoSendai wrote:Yeah, I disabled that. Do you use tonemapped or untonemapped output?
Re: Indigo 2.2.1
Can you post the logs for the client(s) and master when the networking fails?ZomB wrote: More critical is atm the network connectivity in this version anyway....

Oh, only 16bit... why this?OnoSendai wrote:The OpenEXR output in Indigo is 16 bit per component. I'll add it back in to the next version.
I use mostly the tonemapped EXR file, but for some projects tonemapping via external Tools is a quite nice possibility!OnoSendai wrote:Do you use tonemapped or untonemapped output?
It seems only chance to get any connection is by forcing to connect with -h command line! even then a running Slave don't recognize any master often (attempting to connect.... >>> WSAETIMEOUT)OnoSendai wrote:Can you post the logs for the client(s) and master when the networking fails?
I just recognized that the master tells me just sometimes (often nothing!!!):
Code: Select all
Network slave connected from 192.168.0.81:49389
ClientProxy: MySocketExcep: Connection Closed.
Dropping connection to slave.
Re: Indigo 2.2.1
Updated with some performance results:
The Cornell box scene converges to a perceptually noiseless level approximately twice as fast with version 2.2.1, relative to 2.0 stable.

Re: Indigo 2.2.1
Godzilla, I see these differences:
1.) the wall has structures in the second render - I think this is something you intended
2.) much less noise on the reflections near the screw

Re: Indigo 2.2.1
To clarify - Indigo 2.2 requires half as many samples per pixel to reach a noiselessness when compared to Indigo 2.0.
So if it took you 2 hours to render completely with 2.0, it should take 1 hour for 1.0. That's in the general case. If you are using environment maps, the speed up is from 5 hours down to 1 hour.
