I haven't really done many tests comparing speed. The new 64 bit build works pretty fast on some workloads, tho.
Hey Ono... I did some banchmarks between 1.0.8, a.0.9 & 1.0.9 64bit.
The results aren't what I expected :/

Code: Select all

Indigo 1.0.8 = 100%
Indigo 1.0.9 = 99.42%
Indigo 1.0.9 64bit = 100.23 %
I used the Oren Nayar testscene on 1 thread for 5min.
Prozess priority to HIGH, so Indigo don't get slowed down by anything on my System.

By repeating the benchmark there seems to be a differance for each run of +- 0.2%

Where is the ~10% speed up using 64bit gone???

It's been gone for a while ZomB. I noticed that the last 64bit version was in fact slower on my system.

Not really surprising though, the biggest advantage with 64bit is the memory management.

Thanks :D

Here, on my XP64, the 64bit V works fine...

64bit 1.0.9 is running 50,000 samples/sec faster than 1.0.4 with my standard benchmark, the diffuse transmitter test scene.

260,000 samples/sec :D

Hello,

I have been quite busy lately but I have downloaded Indigo 108 and 109. 109 errors as soon as I run it on WinXP 32bit with one of those "this program has encountered an error and needs to close" errors.

108 launches fine but I will admit I have not started a render with it yet. My last render test was performed on version 106 I think. (106 runs fine)

I hope this bug report helped. :) Probably something to do with the new VS2008 project?

Can you try running indigo_console.exe, instead of indigo.exe.
Does it give the same error?

Hi Filippo, please try running indigo_console.exe, and tell me if it gives an error.
