Re: scientific reports

It is interesting to notice that we are equipped with taste to reject a chirality over the other (considering that DNA is a chiral molecule).

That's the kind of digressions I would like to encourage here ;)

Re: scientific reports

Hi Jayko, I would like to keep this thread free from "trivial" computer technologies, siggraph papers etc as there is plenty of room for those all around the web (and there are too many of interest). No harm done, though ! I'd like it more to be insightful to the future trends rather than small step...

Re: Feature supported by Mtl

Hi ileste, assuming that you mean the old MtI, that I'm dubbing MELtI now: Background and Tonemapping, along with specific rendering options, are camera-based. MELtI was designed with a specific window called the Indigo Editor that helps in setting Indigo-related parameters (here with the camera sel...

Re: Heterogeneous participating media tests

thank's you very much, CTZn, for explanations, I really appreciate. do you know that your Passionated http://www.indigorenderer.com/materials/materials/1005 is bugging in gpu mode : GPU path tracing initialisation failed: clBuildProgram failed: CL_BUILD_PROGRAM_FAILURE My materials are getting old,...

Re: scientific reports

Yes, so far I've seen just three minutes and it is very enlightening ! I would have rejected that publication of yours if it wasn't for the topic of this, humpf, vizualisation 8)

A very useful work indeed, thanks !

Re: Indigo Renderer 4.0.38 Beta Release

I have two units inside this ma...

Re: Heterogeneous participating media tests

The col function takes the third component e2() from the position in 3D pos being sampled for input, that is the upwards z vector e2(pos) (counting from element zero). Smoothstep is just a nicer ramp, aka smooth ramp, as opposed to linear color change. It is used here for remapping purposes based on...

Re: [ISL] I board failed to do polka dots

Galinette is of course plain correct; this specificity of bump mapping has raised countless, pointless arguments on the effectiveness of bump mapping based on texture resolution.

Bump mapping is like a radar scan from above; a perfect cliff will be invisible, the terrain seemingly flat.

Did you try 1 unit with two GPUs ? Maybe they scale together ? I'm asking in the dark.

That's exactly how it should be done !

Re: [ISL] I board failed to do polka dots

In the

Code: Select all

     dist(
      vec2(a),
      vec2(b)
    ) > 0.25
bit, it's the 0.25 that you want to tweak. It's the limit of the dot, from the distance from the center vec2(b) to the actual coordinates being sampled in UV space vec2(a).

That's close to life-like, congrats ! I think that the instances all have the same orientation, it adds a lot to randomize rotation and scale for each (exporter thing).

We are kind of close to crystalline storage: http://www.nanowerk.com/nanotechnology- ... =43604.php
I think the right design for our respiratory system would be big crystals one could handle, as opposed to the best grinding material available. *Cough*
