Re: light layers
Node based material editor was never implemented. I actually kinda liked the layer system, but after using a little bit of Arnold, and Octane, can see the benefits of node based one. But, all is not that dark! As you might already know, C4D actually implemented their own, native, node based material...

Re: light layers
Tyler, You can simulate real life conditions, as much as you like, it will turn out to be sort of a simulation, actually. The results will look amazing, but the time for rendering such scenarios is a bit longer then the usual methods. So, I would suggest you to try it out, you will be amazed. For in...

Re: Sun and water
Yeah, really strange. Tested it out, and it's true. The only thing that comes into mind is this question, are you sure you are intersecting the water object with the plane/object below? Seems like there might be a gap or something, and that the sun system is more sensitive to small scale measures, o...

Re: light layers
Well, the thing is, most of us who use Indigo are very busy with our own projects, and work, and have little time to visit the threads, as much as we used to. As for the Reinhard, your render is completely black because: 1) Your lights are too weak; 2) Your camera settings need to be adjusted (eV, e...

Re: light layers
Welcome, Tyler! Few years ago I also made a leap from Maxwell to Indigo, and the love grows stronger with every new project! Also, congrats on the choice, C4D has the best plug-in so far. Now, if you are into light tweaking, for starters, please make sure that you are NOT using Reinhard tonemapping ...

Re: [REQ] Big Sun and Bloom
Zalevskiy, tovarish! In order to get that kind of effect, like that thread you found suggests, you have to open up your aperture, make it big, and your lens has to be dirty, smudgy. So, use obstacle maps with fingerprints, heavily dirty, but bear in mind that too much of a bloom causes a little bit ...

Re: Custom NK Values for bronze
Not a problem, glad that you are still with us! :D Ok, so I created this .png file that is supposed to explain to me some thing, if I ever forget them. I will post it here, and you can use it as you wish, and if you have any question, I will try to explain them to you, but bear in mind that i'm no e...

Re: Custom NK Values for bronze
You can create your own nk file if you have lab measurements for that specific material. All you have to do is recreate the data structure as already given in nk files, inside Indigo's folder. You can just overwrite one of the least used ones, for example, that super dark material. If you need help ...

Re: My first indigo render
Welcome!
First comment: Let it bake some more!
Second: balance your light sources, add couple of more to create interesting effects. Never let your surrounding/ambient light be just plain white, introduce some HDRI maps, or create some of your own!
Keep it up!
