That got me thinking. What about a material, that only has a text box? Advanced users could then copy and paste whatever material code into that box and assign that material to any models in a scene. The material will be exported exactly as it was written to that text box.Good idea? Bad? Sounds lik...

I think this should be done outside of exporters, perhaps someone can write an app? If it you just want enter the data simply enter it manually
in the xml. Wytraven's schottglass materials work by copy and pasting the text into the import mat, though i would assume it's approximated.

Yeah it took quite a while to export. The actual boxes were instanced and i selected use instancing in your exporter so it renders pretty fast, the render I posted was just a couple minutes in. The problem is with the 65,000 limit and also having to display every instance so it will be exported. The...

Great Stuff Suvakas!

I tried displacing scattered box primitives to achieve a micro polygon displacement look but the scattering tool in max limits the number of duplicates for the instanced model to 65,000

here is my result

Suvakas,

Know that your work, and the work of Ono and the others is
greatly appreciated. Don't let a certain poster's foolish words
break you away from the community and your great work.
I hope for your return.

To make particle flow a mesh go to the geometry button and on the list rollout where it says standard primitives go to compound objects and select mesher.

Try duplicating the mesh and leaving only the area of the glass you want to be a mirror
also make it one wall(no thickness), then place it inside the thickness of the original glass.
Instead of using blend use a gradient alpha map to transition the mirror to glass.
