Re: External mesh vs dummy vs model

@ Alamy: This is a good tutorial, He (from mind.sight.studios) starts with Proxy mesh then does an example for an external mesh: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYhng66TEW4 In short though you need to have the materials IN your sketchup file and the names need to match the names referenced in the ex...

Re: External mesh vs dummy vs model

My bad, I thought you were talking about memory as in system RAM or GPU Vram not storage space. Out of curiosity when you render your file in indigo does indigo use the same amount of system or GPU memory when it renders the sketchup model that contains the plant as it does when it renders the sketc...

Re: External mesh vs dummy vs model

Pikadili89, I've not done any actual tests to compare memory usage but the use case for external meshs and proxymeshes in most 3d apps is to reduce the load in your 3d app while you are working on a model, since all the geometry is present in the rendering engine at time of render then it must all b...

Re: Sketchup/Indigo light mesh/material behavior guide

Ewie, I'm not sure if its the same problem you are having but a long time ago I had an issue with the wrong IES type (unsupported) and eventually found a program that would translate IES files to other formats. Unfortunately I no longer remember the details or the program but a quick search revealed...

Re: Indigo Renderer 4.6.7 Release

Mpro31, I've seen a few different things that might be causing your issue you may have checked all of these already: Are you running your main machine as a Working master or network master (network master doesn't contribute to the project so that would be slower)? Is the slave computer setup for GPU...

Re: Indigo Renderer 4.6.7 Release

Thanks again Ono for continuing support for Indigo! @MrBlack - Unfortunately autodesk is great at killing plugins. Even if you could force install it would not work: https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/3ds-Max-2020-2021-plugins-do-not-work-in-3ds-Max-202...

Re: Indigo Renderer 4.6.4 Release

@ErichBoehm This is a beta release for those who wish to help the developer find and fix bugs and try out newer features. For the latest official stable release you should go here: https://www.indigorenderer.com/download-indigo-renderer Either way your comment doesn't do anything to help anyone, you...

Re: Indigo Renderer 4.6.0 Beta Release

Thanks for the update Ono have been worried for some time about indigo's future. I'll second pretty much everything Lal-O said. I appreciate all the work you've done to date and hope you find a way to keep Indigo going. I will say I have vray for sketchup and honestly I like Indigo much, much more, ...

Skatter 2.0 not working with skindigo?

So I was trying the new version of skatter, 2.0, and it doesn't seem to be working with indigo. While I use, and appreciate, the built in scatter tool quite a bit skatter give better control for more complex setups. Any chance indigo support for scatter can be fixed? Also a bit curious, seems like t...

Sketchup/Indigo light mesh/material behavior guide

Was looking for light setup and behavior to help me with accurate light planning and couldn't find what I wanted in the manual nor in this help forum so I'm posting this as a supplemental guide for setting up lights including IES. Doesn't cover everything. The info below may be specific to indigo em...

Re: Sculptures Whitaker Studio

A little update that is about a year late. I did finish sculpture animations for each sculpture design at the studio with indigo. That project can be found in a quasi AR app the studio had made early last year and can be found in the Apple app and google play stores: Lyman Whitaker Wind Sculptures p...

Presently working on individual sculpture videos for an app and for gallery use, after that hopefully I can do more like the ones above.

Re: Indigo Renderer 4.4.1 Beta / Technology Preview

It will probably be a while before I try it out but I like that the devs are keeping up on major features. Was just watching videos from siggraph seems all the "big" names have implemented some version, intel, nvidia, or proprietary, of noise reduction to cut render times. It is great to see that In...
